Maurice is an apartment-gallery located in Montreal’s Gay Village,
founded in 2021 by Marie Ségolène C. Brault.

Named in honor of jewelry designer, artist, and art therapist Maurice Brault, the space is dedicated to presenting the work of emerging and self-taught artists from both local and international contexts. Maurice has hosted on-site exhibitions, collaborated on off-site projects in Montreal and New York, and contributed to the production and distribution of artist publications—including The Triumph of the Lonely Place by Genevieve Goffman, co-published with Inpatient Press.

In 2023, the gallery organized a two-week artist residency in Youngstown, Ohio. A collaboration with aritst Rocco Sait, which culminated in an exhibition and accompanying publication. A second edition of this project is forthcoming.

After a six-month pause, Maurice reopens in fall 2025 with a renewed focus on select, trimestral exhibitions. The project remains an evolving platform for experimentation, community-building, and the support of emerging artistic practices.

Maurice was featured in a variety of print and digital publications, including Le Devoir, Peripheral Review, C Magazine, Whitehot Magazine, Public Parking, Pin-Up Magazine, Art Viewer, The Page, and the Contemporary Art Library.
